How to Fix EPG / TV Guide Problems
If Live TV channels are working but the EPG / TV Guide is empty, outdated, showing the wrong programme times or missing information, the issue is often related to playlist refresh, EPG synchronization, device time settings or the IPTV player itself.
Follow the steps below to troubleshoot EPG and TV Guide problems with Alakh IPTV.
Quick Check
If your Live TV channels play normally but only the programme guide is missing, your IPTV login may be working correctly. Start by refreshing the EPG instead of changing your username or password.
Common EPG / TV Guide Problems
| Problem | What to Check |
|---|---|
| TV Guide is completely empty | Refresh the EPG and playlist. |
| Guide shows old programmes | Force an EPG update and restart the player. |
| Programme times are wrong | Check device date, time and timezone. |
| Some channels have guide data, others do not | Test another player and refresh the EPG. |
| EPG loads very slowly | Allow the first synchronization to finish and check device performance. |
Step 1 — Refresh the EPG
Most IPTV players include an option to manually refresh programme guide data.
Look for an option such as:
- Update EPG
- Refresh EPG
- Reload EPG
- Update TV Guide
- Sync EPG
Start the update and allow it to finish completely.
Step 2 — Refresh the IPTV Playlist
EPG data and channel information often work together.
If the guide is still missing, refresh the playlist itself.
Look for:
- Refresh Playlist
- Update Playlist
- Reload Playlist
- Update Content
- Sync Playlist
After the playlist refresh is complete, run the EPG update again.
Step 3 — Restart the IPTV Player
- Close the IPTV application completely.
- Wait a few seconds.
- Open the player again.
- Allow the playlist and EPG to finish loading.
- Check the TV Guide again.
Step 4 — Check Your Device Date and Time
Incorrect device time settings are a common reason programme times appear wrong.
Check:
- Current date
- Current time
- Timezone
- Daylight-saving settings where applicable
- Automatic date/time setting
Step 5 — Check the IPTV Player's EPG Time Offset
Some IPTV players include an EPG time offset or time shift option.
If your guide is consistently showing the correct programmes at the wrong time, check whether this setting has been changed.
Step 6 — Restart Your Device
Restart the device you use for IPTV.
This can help clear cached guide data and temporary application problems.
Devices may include:
- Firestick / Fire TV
- Android TV / Google TV
- Android TV Box
- Samsung Smart TV
- LG Smart TV
- Apple TV
- Phone or tablet
- Windows PC or Mac
Step 7 — Check Your Internet Connection
EPG information normally needs to be downloaded by the IPTV player.
Confirm that:
- Your device is online.
- Other apps and websites work normally.
- Your Wi-Fi connection is stable.
- Your router is functioning correctly.
Restart your router if necessary.
Step 8 — Clear the IPTV Player Cache
If your device allows it, clearing the IPTV player's cache can remove stale guide information.
Step 9 — Try Another IPTV Player
If the EPG is missing in one player, test your Alakh IPTV account in another compatible player.
Player A → No EPG
Player B → EPG works normally
In this situation, the issue may be related to Player A's EPG configuration or cache.
Some Channels Have EPG but Others Do Not
If programme information appears for most channels but a few channels have no guide data:
- Refresh the EPG.
- Refresh the playlist.
- Try another compatible IPTV player.
- Note the exact affected channel names.
- Contact Alakh IPTV Support if those channels continue to have no EPG data.
Entire TV Guide Is Empty
If no channels show programme information:
- Confirm Live TV itself works.
- Refresh the EPG.
- Refresh the playlist.
- Restart the player.
- Restart the device.
- Check device date, time and timezone.
- Try another compatible player.
- Contact support if the EPG remains empty across multiple players.
EPG Shows the Wrong Programme Time
If the guide works but programmes are displayed at the wrong time:
- Check your device timezone.
- Enable automatic date/time if appropriate.
- Check daylight-saving settings.
- Check the player's EPG offset setting.
- Refresh the EPG.
- Restart the IPTV player.
TV Guide Shows Old Programme Information
If programme information has stopped updating:
- Run a manual EPG refresh.
- Refresh the playlist.
- Restart the player.
- Clear the app cache where supported.
- Check for an IPTV player update.
- Try another compatible player if the problem continues.
EPG Takes a Long Time to Load
Large playlists can contain a significant amount of programme guide data.
If EPG loading is slow:
- Allow the initial synchronization to finish.
- Avoid closing the app while it is updating.
- Restart the device if it becomes unresponsive.
- Make sure your device has enough free storage.
- Close unnecessary applications on low-memory devices.
Do I Need a VPN for EPG Problems?
Usually Not
A missing or incorrect TV Guide is normally not the first reason to test a VPN.
First:
- Refresh the EPG.
- Refresh the playlist.
- Check the device timezone.
- Try another player.
A network/VPN test is more relevant if the player cannot download EPG data on one network but works correctly on another connection.
Player-Specific EPG Tips
TiviMate
Open TiviMate settings, locate the EPG section and run the EPG update. Also verify the playlist's EPG source if you have manually changed player settings.
IPTV Smarters-Style Players
Look for Refresh EPG, Refresh Content or a similar update function, then allow the content synchronization to complete.
IBO Player
Restart the player and allow the playlist to synchronize. If EPG is missing while Live TV works, compare the same account in another player.
