IPTV App Crashing, Freezing or Closing
If your IPTV player keeps closing, freezes, becomes unresponsive, crashes when opening Live TV, or shuts down while loading Movies or Series, the issue may be related to the app, device memory, storage, cache, software version or playlist size.
Follow the steps below to troubleshoot IPTV application problems while using Alakh IPTV.
Start Here — Restart the App and Device
Completely close the IPTV application, restart your device, then open the player again before changing other settings. Temporary memory problems are a common cause of app freezing or crashing.
What Type of App Problem Are You Seeing?
| Problem | Possible Cause |
|---|---|
| App closes immediately | App installation, compatibility or corrupted cache. |
| App freezes while loading playlist | Large playlist, low memory or player issue. |
| App crashes when opening a channel | Playback engine, decoder or device compatibility. |
| Movies / Series cause the app to close | Player issue, memory shortage or VOD playback problem. |
| App becomes slow over time | Cache, low storage or device memory pressure. |
Step 1 — Force Close the IPTV App
Do not simply return to the Home screen. Fully close the IPTV application.
On devices that support it:
- Open device Settings.
- Open Apps / Applications.
- Select your IPTV player.
- Choose Force Stop or equivalent.
- Open the player again.
Step 2 — Restart Your Device
Restart the device you are using for IPTV.
This may include:
- Amazon Firestick / Fire TV
- Android TV / Google TV
- Android TV Box
- Samsung Smart TV
- LG Smart TV
- Apple TV
- Android phone or tablet
- iPhone / iPad
- Windows PC or Mac
Step 3 — Check Available Storage
Very low device storage can cause apps to slow down, freeze or crash.
Check your available storage and remove unnecessary:
- Unused applications
- Old downloads
- Large temporary files
- Unneeded media files
Step 4 — Clear the IPTV Player Cache
On devices that support app cache management:
- Open Settings.
- Open Apps.
- Select your IPTV player.
- Choose Clear Cache.
- Restart the application.
Step 5 — Close Other Apps
Devices with limited RAM may struggle when several applications are running at the same time.
Close unnecessary apps such as:
- Web browsers
- Games
- Other streaming apps
- Background download applications
- File managers or installers
Then reopen your IPTV player and test again.
Step 6 — Update Your IPTV Player
Check whether a newer version of your IPTV player is available.
Install updates only through:
- The official app store for your device
- The legitimate player developer's official source
Step 7 — Update Your Device Software
Check whether your device has an appropriate system update available.
This can include updates for:
- Fire OS
- Android TV / Google TV
- Samsung TV software
- LG webOS
- tvOS
- Android
- iOS / iPadOS
- Windows
- macOS
Step 8 — Refresh Your Playlist
If the app opens normally but freezes while loading Live TV, Movies or Series, refresh the playlist.
Look for:
- Update Playlist
- Refresh Playlist
- Reload Playlist
- Update Content
- Sync Content
Allow the refresh to finish completely before navigating through the app.
App Freezes While Loading a Large Playlist
IPTV playlists can contain a large amount of Live TV, VOD, Series and EPG information.
Low-powered devices may take longer to process this information.
Try:
- Waiting for the initial playlist load to finish
- Closing other applications
- Restarting the device
- Freeing storage space
- Using another IPTV player
Step 9 — Try Another IPTV Player
If Alakh IPTV works normally in another compatible player, the original application may be causing the crash.
Player A → Keeps crashing
Player B → Same account works normally
This suggests the issue is more likely related to Player A or its device compatibility.
App Crashes When You Start a Channel or Video
If the player works normally until you start playback:
- Try several different channels.
- Try a Movie or Series title.
- Restart the player.
- Try another decoder / player option if supported.
- Try another IPTV player.
- Update the app and device software.
Step 10 — Change the Playback Engine if Supported
Some IPTV players allow you to choose between different playback methods.
Options may include:
- Internal Player
- External Player
- Hardware Decoder
- Software Decoder
Step 11 — Check Your Internet Connection
Network problems usually cause buffering rather than application crashes, but some players may become unresponsive when they repeatedly fail to load content.
Check:
- Your device is connected to the internet.
- Your Wi-Fi signal is stable.
- Other apps load normally.
- Your router is functioning correctly.
Step 12 — Test Another Internet Connection
If the application freezes specifically while trying to connect to IPTV, test another network where possible.
Home Wi-Fi → Player freezes while loading
Mobile hotspot → Player loads normally
This can indicate that the network is contributing to the problem rather than the application alone.
Do I Need a VPN if the IPTV App Is Crashing?
Usually Not
An application that keeps closing is normally more likely to have a device, memory, storage, compatibility or player problem.
A VPN test is more relevant if:
- The player works normally until it connects to the IPTV service.
- The same player works on another internet connection.
- It fails only on your normal network.
In that situation, a reputable VPN may be tested as part of network troubleshooting, but it should not be the first step for an app crash.
Step 13 — Reinstall the IPTV Player
Reinstallation should normally be one of the later troubleshooting steps.
Before uninstalling the app:
After confirming you have the necessary information:
- Uninstall the IPTV player.
- Restart the device.
- Reinstall the player from a legitimate source.
- Add your Alakh IPTV details again.
- Test playback before changing advanced settings.
Player-Specific Checks
TiviMate
Restart TiviMate, update the playlist, check available device storage and test another player if TiviMate continues to close or freeze.
IPTV Smarters-Style Players
Clear the app cache where supported, refresh the content, restart the device and test another playback engine if the app offers that option.
IBO Player
Restart the TV/device, allow the playlist to finish synchronizing and check for app/device updates. If crashes continue, test the same Alakh IPTV playlist in another compatible player.
Firestick / Android TV App Keeps Crashing
On Fire TV and Android TV devices, try:
- Force stop the IPTV app.
- Clear its cache.
- Restart the streaming device.
- Free storage space.
- Close unused apps.
- Update the IPTV player.
- Try another compatible IPTV player.
Samsung or LG IPTV App Keeps Closing
If your Smart TV IPTV player is unstable:
- Restart the television.
- Check for a TV software update.
- Check for an IPTV app update.
- Remove unused apps if TV storage is low.
- Try another compatible IPTV player.
- Reinstall the player only after saving your IPTV details.
App Crashes Only on One Channel, Movie or Episode
If the application works normally until one particular item is opened:
- Test several other channels or titles.
- Refresh the playlist.
- Try the affected item in another IPTV player.
- Retry after a short period.
- Report the exact content name if the issue is repeatable.
Quick App Crash Troubleshooting Checklist

- Restart your device.
