Movies / VOD Not Working
If Live TV is working but Movies / VOD are not loading, not playing, buffering, showing a black screen or returning a playback error, the issue may be specific to the VOD section, the selected title, your IPTV player, your device or your network.
Follow the steps below to troubleshoot Movies and Video on Demand with Alakh IPTV.
Start Here — Test Several Movies
Do not test only one movie.
Try at least 3–5 different titles. If only one title fails but others play correctly, the problem may be limited to that particular VOD item.
What Exactly Is Happening?
| Problem | What It May Indicate |
|---|---|
| One movie does not play | The issue may be limited to that title. |
| Several movies do not play | Refresh VOD, check your player and network. |
| Entire Movies section is empty | Playlist/content refresh or player configuration may be required. |
| Movie starts but buffers | Check network stability and available bandwidth. |
| Black screen with audio | Possible player/video decoding issue. |
| Video works but no sound | Check audio track and device output. |
Step 1 — Test Multiple Movies
Try several different Movies / VOD titles.
If possible, choose titles from different categories.
Movie A → Does not play
Movie B → Plays normally
Movie C → Plays normally
In this example, the issue is likely limited to Movie A rather than your entire VOD service.
Step 2 — Refresh Movies / VOD
Your IPTV player may still be using an older cached content list.
Look for options such as:
- Refresh
- Update Content
- Reload Playlist
- Refresh Movies
- Sync Playlist
Allow the update to complete fully before checking your Movies section again.
Step 3 — Restart the IPTV Player
- Close the IPTV player completely.
- Wait a few seconds.
- Open the player again.
- Refresh the playlist or content if available.
- Try several VOD titles again.
Step 4 — Restart Your Device
Restart your Firestick, Android TV, Smart TV, Apple TV, phone, tablet, IPTV box, Windows PC or Mac.
A restart can clear temporary memory or playback issues affecting VOD.
Step 5 — Check Your Internet Connection
Movies may require sustained bandwidth for a longer period than quickly changing Live TV channels.
Check:
- Is your internet connection stable?
- Is your Wi-Fi signal strong?
- Are other devices downloading or streaming heavily?
- Does another streaming app work normally?
Step 6 — Restart Your Router
- Turn off or unplug your router.
- Wait approximately 30–60 seconds.
- Turn it back on.
- Wait for internet access to return fully.
- Test the same Movies / VOD titles again.
Step 7 — Try Another IPTV Player
Testing another compatible player can help determine whether the issue is app-specific.
Player A → Movies fail to play
Player B → Same movies play normally
In this situation, check Player A's settings, updates or playback compatibility.
Step 8 — Check Your IPTV Player's Playback Settings
Some IPTV players allow you to change the video player or decoder used for Movies / VOD.
Depending on the application, you may see options such as:
- Internal Player
- External Player
- Hardware Decoder
- Software Decoder
- Video Player
Step 9 — Check Your Alakh IPTV Subscription
Confirm that your Alakh IPTV service is active.
Your IPTV player may continue showing previously loaded Movies and categories even if the account has expired.
Step 10 — Check Your Simultaneous Connections
A VOD movie counts as an active IPTV stream.
If another device is already streaming and your subscription has reached its connection limit, playback may fail.
Step 11 — Test Another Internet Connection
If Movies / VOD do not work on your normal network, test another connection where possible.
Home Wi-Fi → VOD does not load
Mobile hotspot → Same movie plays normally
If the same device, player and movie work on another network, your normal network, router or ISP route may be contributing to the problem.
Step 12 — Should You Test a VPN?
A VPN Is Not Automatically Required
A VPN should normally be used as a diagnostic test only when there is evidence of a network-specific problem.
For example:
- VOD works on another internet connection.
- It fails on your normal home network.
- Your Alakh IPTV subscription is active.
- The same title works elsewhere.
In that situation, test a reputable VPN and compare the result. If the VPN makes playback slower or less stable, disconnect it.
Movie Opens but Shows a Black Screen
- Try another movie.
- Restart the IPTV player.
- Restart your device.
- Try another compatible IPTV player.
- Try another playback/decoder option if your player supports it.
- If only one title is affected, report its exact name to Alakh IPTV Support.
Movie Has Picture but No Sound
- Check your TV/device volume.
- Make sure the device is not muted.
- Try another movie.
- Check for another available audio track.
- Restart the player.
- Try another compatible player.
Movies Section Is Empty or Missing
If the entire Movies / VOD section is missing:
- Refresh or update your playlist.
- Restart the IPTV player.
- Check whether Movies/VOD is hidden in the player's settings.
- Check category or parental filters where applicable.
- Try another compatible IPTV player.
- Contact support if the Movies section remains unavailable.
Movie Starts but Stops Partway Through
If a movie begins normally but later stops:
- Try starting the movie again.
- Check whether the internet connection dropped or became unstable.
- Try another title.
- Try the same movie in another player.
- Test another internet connection if practical.
- Report the movie name and approximate playback time where it stops if the issue is repeatable.
Only One Movie Is Not Working
If all other VOD titles work normally, avoid reinstalling the entire application.
Instead:
- Refresh your playlist.
- Retry the title after a short period.
- Test it in another player if possible.
- Report the exact movie title to support if it remains unavailable.
